These are fees which are charged per term (unless otherwise indicated) and it is the students’ responsibility if they would like to opt-out of these fees.

Student Extended Health Plan

Cost: $104.41 charged every fall term

  • The health plan is provided for all students who cannot provide proof of health insurance from other sources. The health plan covers 80% of prescription drugs, 100% of vision care such as frames, lenses, eye examinations and 80% of extended health coverage such as physiotherapist, chiropractor, hearing aids, registered massage therapist and medical equipment/supplies with a physician’s prescription and many more. This fee is applied to both full-time and part-time students. Students can opt-out of this coverage only with proof of coverage of health insurance from another source.

NOTE: This fee applies to both Waterloo and Brantford Campus Students. This fee is levied by the Wilfrid Laurier Students' Union.

 

Student Dental Plan

Cost: $98.00 charged every fall term

  • The dental plan is provided for all students who cannot provide proof of dental insurance from other sources. The dental plan covers anywhere from 30% to 80% of many dental benefits such as Examinations, Extractions and Preventative services to name a few.

Laurier Student Public Interest Research Group

 Cost: $5.06 charged per term

  • This fee, from a referendum question in February 2006, is to fund the creation of a fully functional Public Interest Research Group (LSPIRG). This student-led corporation seeks to engage students in the provision of resources, community collaboration, research and education. Student’s, who would like to opt-out of this fee, can do so online through the Business Office website, within the first 2 weeks of each term under the following location:

NOTE: This fee applies to only Waterloo Campus Students and this fee is not levied by the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union.

 

PRISM-SBE Computer Contribution

Cost: $65.00 charged per term

  • This fee is from an agreement reached in 1990 for Full-Time Students in the School of Business and Economics, as approved for the voluntary student contribution designed to increase the computer facilities for students in the School of Business of Economics. Students who do not wish to contribute to the PRISM fee must file for an adjustment through the PRISM Help Desk (room P1030, Peter’s Building) by the end of the second week of the applicable term.
