What is changing?
Laurier Students For Learning (LSFL) will be moving to Campus Clubs & Faculty Associations during the 2010-2011 year.
When will these changes be in effect?
The changes will be implemented for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Why are these changes being made?
Over two years of discussions have led to the final recommendation of moving LSFL to Campus Clubs. This change is required as LSFL does not fit the WLUSU committee structure. Committees are designed to serve all students at Laurier. The Campus Clubs Department is a perfect fit for LSFL as Clubs are designed to serve its own members and offer opportunities for external work beyond Laurier students. The external focus of LSFL in providing services and programs for local community members in Kitchener-Waterloo is much more consistent with the Clubs structure and would ensure more efficiency in WLUSU’s structure. As mentioned before, there have been numerous discussions over the last couple years between Management Group and full-time staff to discuss ways to better serve all students and WLUSU is confident that this is an exciting, positive step for Laurier Students for Learning.
Who made the decisions for these changes?
The decisions were made over a 10 month period with input from the Management Group, full-time staff, and volunteers. In depth discussions were held to ensure the changes would best meet the mandate of WLUSU
What will happen to the volunteers in LSFL?
Volunteers will continue their normal service in 2010. The committee structure will help be determined by current volunteers with guidance from Campus Clubs and staff within the WLUSU.
Are there going to be anymore changes?
Discussions from the Strategic Planning Steering Committee meeting on November 23rd will be passed onto the 2010-2011 Management Group but there will be no changes for the 2010-2011 year.
