A note from the Chair of the Board of Directors...
On behalf of the Elections Team and the Board of Directors, thank you to everyone that made this a success.
I would like to take the time to personally thank all the candidates for their participation in the election. You all ran excellent campaigns that displayed the commitment, dedication and passion that Laurier students are well known for. Your desire to represent students on all levels was clear throughout the process and for that I thank you.
To all those that were successful, congratulations and thank you. You are part of something special as you have the chance to represent your fellow students for the 2010-2011 academic year. Your journey has now begun. The road ahead of you will provide many challenges but know that the commitment, dedication and passion you displayed during this campaign will go far in your new role.
To those that were not successful in your campaign, know that your participation was integral to the process and in no way is this a failure. You have served your fellow students well by providing them with the democratic process of choice. Regardless of the outcome, you should be extremely proud of yourselves. It takes courage and dedication to be part of the elections process and for that I thank you.
I would like to thank all of the hardworking volunteers that were part of this process. To the Elections Team, please accept my heartfelt appreciation for your hard work over the past several months. You have served your fellow students well by ensuring this process was fair and equitable for everyone. Students are indebted to you for your dedication and commitment to providing a process that allowed to students to make an informed choice. Thank you for everything you have done to make this election an incredible success.
To those that voted, thank you. Thank you for making your voice heard. Thank you for taking the time to fill out a ballot. Thank you for helping shape the future of Laurier and of the Students’ Union. As you read through the results remember that your job is not done. You need to hold these elected representatives accountable. They are your voice. Make sure they always know that they were elected into their positions to represent you and your needs.
This experience has been one I know I will treasure for a lifetime. The 2010-2011 academic year will provide the opportunity to shape student life and representation on campus for many years to come. I thank you all once again for your contributions to this process and look forward to an exciting upcoming year!
