About Kyle Hocking: Hi, my name is Kyle Hocking. This is my second year on the Board of Directors and first as Chairman. I enjoy playing baseball, hockey, golf, squash, tennis and pretty well anything else. I am currently working on my Private Pilot’s License at Waterloo Regional Airport.
Program: Honours BA Political Science, History Minor, 4th Year
Why Kyle decided to run for the Board: Initially, I decided to run for the board because a friend encouraged me to. As I got deeper into the process of elections, I began to learn more and more about what the board was all about and how it represents all students at WLU on a daily basis. Advocacy is something that I am truly passionate about and there is not shortage of opportunities to lobby on behalf of students while involved with the board. I decided to run for a second term because I enjoyed the first one but also because I had some unfinished projects that I wanted to accomplish. This year is a big one for the Union, kind of like the perfect storm. This year will feature the development of a new strategic plan using the market research data gathered last year. Furthermore, we will be renegotiating our Operating Agreement with the University. The year ahead will be exciting and I look forward to interacting with all of you to determine how the Union is best able to "provide for the needs of students".
